Connector/J 5.1 includes support for JDBC-4.0 functionality, including:
- Auto-registration with the DriverManager via the service provider mechanism
- Standardized connection validity checks
- Categorized SQLExceptions based on recoverability/retry-ability and class of the underlying error
- Unwrapping to interfaces that include vendor extensions
- Support for XML processing via JAXP interfaces to DOM, SAX and StAX
- Support for setting per-connection client information
- Support for JDBC-4.0 NCHAR, NVARCHAR and NCLOB types

Provides a harness to build the source code from openjdk.java.net using Free Software build tools and provides replacements for the binary plugs with code from the GNU Classpath project.

As well as IcedTea, the repository also contains:
- IcePick, which allows the OpenJDK language tools (javac, javadoc, javah, javap, apt) to be built separately using any 1.5 compliant Java compiler and be used by any GNU Classpath based runtime
- BrandWeg, which adds elements of OpenJDK to the existing sources of GNU Classpath.

JavaHelp software is a platform-independent, extensible help system that enables you to incorporate online help in applets, components, applications, operating systems, and devices. Authors can also use the JavaHelp software to deliver online documentation for the Web and corporate intranet

Written entirely in the Java programming language, the JavaHelp system can run on any platform and browser that supports the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), making it ideal for use in a heterogeneous environment such as the Web and corporate intranet

The JavaHelp system is implemented using Java Foundation Classes (JFC) software components. The JavaHelp system can be displayed in its own window or embedded in an application. It can also be extended to add customized navigational controls.

With the JavaHelp system, help data and search functionality can reside on either the client side or server side. The JavaHelp software network design also enables help data and new functionality to be dynamically updated over the web.
